East Fleet Week - 2 - 10 August 2014

Once again we met up with the happy campers for a week of sun and sea at
CHICKERELL,
WEYMOUTH

A more beautiful spot would be hard to find.

ENJOY
: )

One day MeWally and I wandered off for a walk along The Fleet.

It's a stunning place,

with everything you'd expect from a water world.

No matter where you look

there will be an arresting sight,

where even a couple horses are no more than the cherry on the cake.

After such a hot summer the crops are in,

the wild grasses are gone to seed,

and the wasps have been very busy in this pretty bird box.

Weymouth had it's festival week while we were there so we wandered into town.

MeWally and Hannah have clearly bonded.

Fund raiser painting, a quid for 4 colours, a short list of rules, and a paint brush.

Every little picture a quid. You work it out.
Paint over the boards at night, do it all again the next day!

Weymouth beach scene.

Lyme Regis for the day.

Stone family.
I wonder if one of them is called Pierre?

Hannah with a different fossil, which makes a change from us.

Fab fossil pavement.

Back to Chickerell.
East Fleet Touring Park from the hill top.

This is why we were up here;
kite flying,

mountain boarding (yep, that's me in skirt and sandles - luckily the board/I was going nowhere).

MeWally was togged up,

and sent on his way.

He's a pensioner.
He shouldn't do this.
He could break a hip!

Hannah and I smashed crockery and had a go at mosaic making.
Why no art work here?
We weren't too successful.

CANOEING ACROSS TO CHESSIL BEACH.

A container fell of a ship during the winter/spring storms and let go thousands of packs of cigarettes.
People came and gathered them up in hope that their lives might be better spent.
As you can see, a few, only a few, remain.

Up on top of the post storm chessil bank.
Shape of the bank is greatly changed.

Hannah suffered a little bereavement.
A sad moment.
Though a fitting memorial.

We found this duck. I was thrilled as I thought it was one of the ducks that are being tracked as they drift around the world on the sea currents.
They're due in the South West NOW
We have one!!
Actually, we don't.
I checked.
It's an almost doppelganger.
Gutted.
.
Loving the hair do.

Just a view.

Chilling out before we head back..

My new pet.
I wont say where she lives so that Rich doesn't kill her.

WEYMOUTH-GUERNSEY-WEYMOUTH
For one long day.
We strolled to the lower stern deck to check out the thrusters.
Lovely, thanks for that Stroller; yep, for showing them to me.
Oooo, he looks well pleased with himself.

I reckon this is the first day of the end of our long hot summer.
Storms are sweeping up from here to England right now.
Batten down the hatches!

Dark, so dark.

New town?
New view?
New you?
Who knew the sun would greet us?

We've arrive then?

We told Hanna that she needed a passport to get onto the island.
She didn't believe us.
Not smiling now, is she?
LOL

Here she is, rushing to catch up with the gang following her interrogation by Immigration Control.
She's walking a bit funny?

Probably the slowest cafe on the Island - true.

MeWally and I set off for a walk along the coast path and a road walk back.
We covered about 7 miles.

Handbag at dawn.

Ahhhh, perfection.
Look,
Feel the calm seep into your soul.

Imagine lying on the view point and looking long and deep into that sky.
Imagine .......

: )

Some oligarch's idea of a thatched cottage.

World class view.

Lunch break beach, the view from our table.

Lunch - huge meal, perfect service, delicious, nothing left for the gulls to gobble down.
Our ferry heading to Jersey, hope it returns for us later.

Classic tres north French scene.

Swimming hole. Next time I'm going in.

An art garden,
free entry,
perfect planting,

inspiring,

and cheeky art.

The bar we went to was magical with a terrace that felt ultra sophisticated, partly because of the jazz band that was playing and the Thai food that was being served. Definitely a venue to return to.

In fact we should have stayed for a meal because .....

The ferry was late.

Really late.

Really, REALLY, REALLY

LATE

DO IT AGAIN?

DEFINITELY
Though I'm not sure the children would be so keen.
