Local Walk - 28.12.14

Ruskin Mill,

 So frosty.

 Icy Puddles.

On top of the Wolds - high and flat.

 Flowers!

Wild Carrot?

Deck The Halls - 29.12.13

Gotta 'prep the hovel' in readiness for a relative invasion.

Outside the trees were baubled and a couple of these potted gnomes guarded our front door against the marauding hordes,
and still they came!

Inside, fir cones, fairy lights and gingerbread.
Christmas-don-get-no-better-than-that.

Apart from some holly, ivy and stuff - Awe Pretty Room.

Here they are,

Photo
sitting around,

looking gorgeous

and smiling muchly.

And after all the guests had gone, we cleared the table of spare grub and had had a breather.
Then I had to bring you this shot of socks.

PRETTY COOL-HUH?

Thankyou
SECRET EMMA AND ANDY!

They helped me see in the new year in style.

: )

Morris Men - 10.6.13

Quaint aint the word when it comes to Nailsworth.

Less than a couple of weeks ago these guys turned up at dusk, danced about the town and drank beer.

Then they went home.

So here, for your delight and delectation, I bring you the Best of British.

Stroud Morris Men.

They come with dancers, a band and ..

Sticks.

Oh, yeh, and did I mention the horse?

'Obb-ee-yos'

They say he comes in peace, but I've seen his big stick.

Judging by the smile on this mans face, he's seen it too.

They dance with a pigs' bladder,

and they dance with hankies.

They dance embarrassingly, like dads do.

And then, sticks ahoy,

fists ahoy;
it's over.

The sticks are gathered in

hats and instruments are discarded and

everyone mingles to discuss who's getting in the next round (beer).

Obby legs it.

This guy smartens himself ready for any ladies who might be lurking at the bar (there was only me, and I'm no lady).

The best hat buys the beers -

or perhaps best bells buys beers?

Decisions made, he who lost must buy the round.

and then drink deep.

Either way it's a very pleasant way to end a day.

Hats off to them for making us turn out and drink beer.

Walking To Stroud -

What a lovely day!

With tickets to pick up from Trading Post in Stroud,

We set off  - ON FOOT
passing folks making the most of the first warm and dry day for months!

Crossing the common to Amberly

And resting at viewpoints.
It took us half a day,

up hill and down dale.

We do have roads around here,

but on a day like this,

with sites like this,

why drive?

Life is short,

so soak up every detail

while you have the chance.

then pick up tickets and drink tea.

Now....walk home.
