Brighton Friday - Monday 31 - 3.11.14

A weekend in Brighton is just the thing when your house has dry rot chemicals doing their thing.

Kereen put us up right royally.

So enjoy these images of a hip English resort.

The view from our breakfast on the balcony. The 'Lanes' stretching out below us.

Looky, look, I've bought a new pair of shoes-gorgeous - I don't get out much!

 Loving these steps.

It tipped down on Sunday soaking the
LONDON TO BRIGHTON VINTAGE CAR RALLY
participants.

They made it, in spite of the appalling conditions.

A few vehicles needed attention,

but most were loaded up ready for the journey home.

The weather got savage, which called for a walk along the front.

 fantastic.

 Big sea, little person.

This monochrome day ended in glorious technicolor.

Sadly we were due to head home, so we took a last look at the beach before bidding goodbye to our friends.

Driving Home From Brighton - Sunday 13.2.11

I just went through the shots in my little camera and found these two:

the weather was wet, as you can see,

making driving hard work, but photography a cinch.

Brighton - Sunday 13.2.11

What we all want on a Sunday morning is a LEISURELY LIE IN; it's a given. So that's what we had.

After much tea and toast we were ready to play 'SPOT THE DAMP''SPOT THE LINTEL' and 'SHIFT THOSE STAIRS'. It was just like being at home....... FUN.

By lunchtime we'd moved Kerrines' KITCHEN into her living room. Then we ripped up her flooring. She'll have to fit a new set of units ......

or cook CAMPING STYLE for ever! It has to be said, that she produced fab meals in her make do and mend cooks corner.

After our house work and meal, we sauntered to the GOTHIC CEMETERY that lies, hidden from view, at the back of her place.

It's a MASSIVE burial site with three churches, lurking about in the undergrowth, awaiting the dead.

Health and safety is every where these days. This cemetery has a SAFETY PROGRAMME. Tottering headstones are marked in this DASHING STYLE; just in case you're too stupid to notice they're dangerous. One grave had freshly laid flowers on it, as well as a yellow triangle. Now that's INSENSITIVE.

It tipped down as we took in the sites, not the best conditions for photography, but this subject is enhanced by the sheen on the water.

All in all a great weekend.

Brighton - Saturday 12.2.11

Everything about Brighton is exhilarating. I know, all places have their dark side which I could seek out, but why would I? There's too much good stuff to feast on.

Walking to THE LANES from Kerrines place we found all this. It's always been a graffiti block but these are a cut above.

LOVE THEM X

The owner of this shop has a bit of a habit. At least they've found a way of sharing it with the world, all 4 shop windows of it.

Street life here is perfection, no one doing anything except PROMENADING and CAFE-ING in continental style.

Love me, love my chairs. Brighton's known for those with fetishes, so I'm completely at home here - mine's CHAIRS - WHAT'S YOURS?

Is it Brighton? Is it me? Or is this howlingly funny?

I made MeWally shoot this one, I was too busy slurping. The guy materialized and vanished. An apparition? Camouflage? Hallucination?

We headed to the sea past this pile of ICED GEMS

Nice

Onions

Even MAX MILLER is in on the act. He's joker from head to foot.

I liked the symmetry of this  monochrome scene.

At last,

a photographers' dream,

in white and blue.

The burnt out shell of the old pier still has charisma, as it squats like an armature for a giant wedding cake.

This is such a frilly, wedding dress of a pier.

Is this the oldest GLITTER BALL in the UK?

OOOOO, look at them massing aggressively! Finally, with aching feet, we reach the end of the pier, It should be the start of the rest of the world, but no, it's STARTLING.

Is it really?

Hmmmmm

Naaaaay! SMILE IT'S FUN would be more accurate.

You see, FUN!!!!

We made our way back to the beach,

Taking in the view on either side of the pier,

and being WOWED BY THE WATER.

It's an intimate beach, despite the crowds of day trippers.

The beach arches are a great place to sit and PEOPLE WATCH. We watched each other.

We sat down and drank coffee again, and watched the world walk along the beach. Then we headed back to Kerrines.

A strange tree, MeWally kept saying, 'Where are you going? What are you staring at?' as I walked off across the soggy grass and away from the pavement.

This, MeWally, THIS!!!! Hundreds of trainers festooning the branches.

We stopped on the way back to Kerrines for essential supplies. She's been working today, as we had swanned around, so we figured .......

Lovely meal, open fire, candle, wine, great conversation late into the night.

PERFECTION.
