Polperro - Wednesday 28.9.11

Today I take a 'busmans holiday': we're off to The Gardens of Heligan.

We took the little car ferry over to FOWEY

and set to exploring the gardens the moment we arrived! Looks like Last Of The Summer Wine to me, I wonder which one is Nora? And ...... which one's Compo?

It's a lovely garden, well worth a visit.

Toadflax crawling over pots.
The produce gardens are a delight.

and the cafes are well worth a visit..... if you get my meaning.

Get a load of this Oak tree. The people walking past it give an idea of scale; it's MASSIVE!!!!

Fungi on old wood - looking like a piece of art.

Did I mention it's a SUB TROPICAL GARDEN? Can I say SHELTER BELT? There, done it. It's how the gardens are protected from the extremes of the elements.

Remember to cut underneath the wheelbarrow!

Lovely day out!
