Polperro Sunday 25.9.11

Weather's looking up! The sun will be with us any day now. Four of us set off for a walk to LOOE.

A couple of paddlers head in the same direction. It should have been us.

The sailors have turned out too. Looks like a good day to be on the water.

The view is pretty, though not shimmering. Can't wait for that much promised sun!

We pass a carefully inscribed bench.

TALLAND BAY, the home of the best looking tea shack I've ever entered.

We toddle on. LOOE ISLAND hoves into view.

DEVON REDS in CORNWALL!!!!

LOOE HARBOUR.

The church had joined in with ....

LOOE MUSIC FESTIVAL

which was on all over town. FUN.

Our coffee shop chap suddenly broke into a sprint trailing a beeping sound behind him. We followed as he was on a shout. The crowds gathered and the RIB was delivered to the water.

We hung around the harbour, for the LIFE BOATS to return.

The day trippers were unharmed, which is more than could be said for their out-board.

It was towed back to the harbour

to an appreciative audience.

Volunteers hauled the beleaguered craft into the shallows.

We wandered to the little beach for a break.

The view out to sea soothed us after all that rescue excitement.

When we wandered back a while later, the RIBs were being taken out of the water, and a man passed through the public collecting donations for the RNLI.

Meanwhile, BOB and JAQUIE had spotted both NELSON THE SEAL and us.

We crossed the harbour on a little ferry and were harassed by this tame CORMORANT

As we walked out of LOOE the light was strange, though attractive.

Above TALLAND BAY we found this little church. Bob was interested in it as it has a bell tower.

The windows in the bell tower were shielded by these beautiful stone shutters.

A stunning little place,

small and ancient.

With all timbers seeming to have been scavenged from ships. In one roof, each timber was unique; some carved, others not. Bob went back on the following Tuesday, to join the local bell ringers.

Eventually, we get back to the security of Polperro.
